TTPS launches investigation into robbery at Piarco International Airport

The TTPS has launched an investigation into a robbery which took place this morning at a cargo facility at the Piarco International airport.

The following is a press release from the TTPS:

Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (“the Authority”) wishes to confirm that there was an incident of an armed robbery at one of the cargo facilities at the Piarco International Airport, on the Golden Grove Road, at 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6th, 2017. 

Piarco ranked Best Airport Staff in Caribbean, 2nd best in Central America

The Piarco International Airport has placed second for Best Airport Staff in Central America, and first among airports in the Caribbean.

This award recognises the quality of staff service, attitude, friendliness and efficiency delivered across front-line positions at an airport including staff working for customer service, Immigration and Security staff, shops, food & beverage outlets.

The Piarco International Airport also placed fourth in the category of best Airports in the Central America and the Caribbean.

Piarco to be site of European Aviation Safety Agency examination centre

The Civil Aviation Authority International (CAAi) has announced that it will open a brand new European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part-66 aircraft maintenance license (AML) electronic examination center in Piarco, Trinidad. 

A statement says the center will be opened on behalf of the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The shortly worded statement says the new electronic exam center will open on April 7, 2016, and will provide candidates in the Caribbean, Central and South America with better access to EASA Part-66 AML examinations.
