Two prison officers who were arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband items into the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca, last week, have been granted a total of $120,000 bail.
Shane Rambharose and Shaun Johnson were granted $40,000 and $80,000 bail respectively when they appeared before Magistrate Debbie-Ann Bassaw in the Arima Magistrates’ Court yesterday afternoon.
Both men were charged under the Prisons Act for bringing contraband items into the prison. If convicted the offence carries a maximum fine of $25,000 and up to three years in prison.
A second Gasparillo man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force soldier, Ken Palmer, which occurred on Thursday 15th March, 2018.
