A Morvant couple will appear in the Port of Spain 8th Magistrates’ Court this morning, charged with the murder of Dr Claire Broadbridge, which occurred on Saturday 2nd September, 2017.
John Smith, 34, a joiner, and Virginia Nedd, 32, a janitor, both of Seales Avenue, Morvant, were charged with murder, after advice was received from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, George Busby, on Wednesday 13th September, 2017.
A Morvant couple is due to be charged with the murder of museum director Dr Claire Broadbridge on September 2nd this year.
Police confirmed the new development in social media postings on Twitter.
One tweet states that the DPP late this evening advised on the charge against a 34-year-old joiner and his 32-year-old common-law wife of Seales Avenue.
On Saturday, September 2nd, residents of the St Ann's observed smoke coming from Broadbridge’s home and notified the authorities.
A man who was not known to them was observed fleeing the scene.
Officers of the Cumuto Unit, Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, are being commended for exhibiting restraint in subduing a man who became violently aggressive during a road exercise at the Trincity intersection along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on Sunday 10th September, 2017.
The man, who appears in a video circulating on social media is seen striking one of the officers with what appears to be a belt.

A Carapichaima man is expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Earl Van Mason, which occurred on Saturday 2nd September, 2017.
Police say Michael Woods, 37, of Waterloo Road, Carapichaima, was charged with murder after advice was received from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, George Busby, on Sunday 10th September, 2017.
Van Mason, 63, also of Waterloo Road, was found at his home on Friday 1st September, 2017, with injuries to the head from which he later died at hospital.
A Valencia man has appeared before a Port of Spain Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Sheldon Rampersad, which occurred on January 13th 2017.
David Woods, 33, a watchman, of Coconut Drive, Valencia, appeared before Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde-John, in the Port of Spain 4th Magistrates’ Court, on Friday 8th September, 2017, to answer to the charge.
An Arima fisherman was granted $750,000 bail, when he appeared before a San Fernando Magistrate, on Friday 1st September, 2017, charged with five counts of fraud, amounting to approximately $693,000.
Sheldon Taylor, 49, of Cleaver Road, Arima, was charged with two counts of uttering a forged valuable security, uttering a forged document, and two counts of attempting to obtain sums of money by virtue of a forged instrument.
The charges were laid after Taylor surrendered himself to the Fraud Squad, on Wednesday 30th August, 2017.
