Three arrested after police find marijuana in vehicles

Three men were arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized, by officers of the Southern Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in the San Fernando district yesterday, a police statement has said.

Officers were on mobile patrol in the La Romaine district, when based on information received, they proceeded to V’s Casino carpark at Union Hall, Cross Crossing, San Fernando, where they had cause to search two vehicles; a silver Toyota Hilux and a blue Hyundai Elantra.

The search resulted in two transparent packets containing 1.06 kilogrammes of marijuana being found in the Elantra motor vehicle, while 523 grammes of the drug were found in the Hilux.

The drugs have an estimated street value of $16,000.

The driver of the Hilux, a 27-year-old man of La Brea and the two male occupants of the Elantra, a 47-year-old and a 32-year-old, both of San Fernando, were arrested in connection with the find.
