The Airports Authority has announced that the two security checkpoints at the departure halls of the Piarco International Airport are being merged into one, from midnight tonight.
ATTT believes this will ease waiting times in lines and offer a more customer friendly experience.
The following is the statement from AATT:
"Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (“the Authority”) advises that the two Security Check Points which serve the International Departure Gates 1-7 and 8-14 separately, will be relocated and merged into one central position to serve all Gates at the Piarco International Airport. This centralisation of the International Security Check Point will be activated on Wednesday July 27th 2016 at 12 midnight.
It is expected that the centralisation of the Security check point will cause wait times in security lines to be reduced; create greater ease as it relates to passenger flow and offer a more customer friendly experience.
The activation of the centralised screening checkpoint will coincide with the opening of our new in-transit screening point to serve in-transit passengers. The in-transit checkpoint is located adjacent to the Immigration Hall. This means that in-transit passengers no longer have to go through Immigration and Customs and the main international security check point to access the International Departure Gates.
The Authority appreciates the cooperation of all airport users, travellers, concessionaires and stakeholders, as we continue to improve our facilities and institute new systems to enhance the experience of all of our customers at our Airports."
